New Years Resolutions

Hello dads, this is the time of year when you start planning some new year new me goals! I feel like the biggest misconception about these “goals” are setting something so big and even sometimes unrealistic. Statically speaking 40% of people break their New Years Resolution within the first month and 1/4 of that 40% break it by the 2nd Friday of January. The goals are too hard to achieve and not within reason. Instead of setting a yearly goal, start small with monthly things you would like to achieve or even weekly goals. You might have a long term yearly goal that will play into these monthly goals. For example if you wanted to read 20 books in the year simply just set a goal for 2 books in January just to get the ball rolling into a solid routine or where to balance your time and make those adjustments. It can be easier to set monthly goals that are more fulfilling and keep you locked in for the remainder of the year. Once you find that routine monthly goals can get a little more challenging as the year progresses. Don’t beat yourself up over missing goals just try to maintain whatever it is you’re looking to achieve and mentally feel better, with a healthy mind you are the best person your family deserves. I find the first 2 weeks is the hardest when trying to set your goals but just remind yourself that it’s easier than the first 2 weeks at home with a newborn haha. If you are interested in what some basic/easy monthly goals could be, leave a comment and I will tell you mine ! Always remember Dads, it’s ok to not be ok. You are not in this alone.
